Clyde Elder

La Brea

Clyde Elder is a veteran trade unionist and community advocate, now contesting the La Brea seat under the UNC banner. He is best known for his role as the former Secretary General of the Communications Workers’ Union (CWU), where he led e^orts to protect the rights of telecommunications and postal workers nationwide. Elder has been a vocal champion of labour rights, famously standing up to major corporations on behalf of employees – at one point he was physically removed from TSTT’s headquarters while meeting with workers to address their grievances. He later aligned with the Oilfield Workers’ Trade Union (OWTU) as part of a joint labour movement initiative, and was presented (alongside fellow unionist Ernesto Kesar) as a “Coalition of Interests” candidate to bring a workers’ agenda into the 2025 elections. A former member of the labour-based MSJ party, Elder has demonstrated integrity and dedication to honest leadership throughout his career. He now aims to translate his decades of experience in workers’ advocacy and community service into e^ective representation for La Brea, focusing on job creation, fairness, and social justice.
