Ernesto Kesar

Ernesto Kesar

Point Fortin

Ernesto Kesar is a seasoned labour leader and the UNC’s pick for the Point Fortin constituency. He serves as an Executive Vice-President of the powerful Oilfield Workers’ Trade Union (OWTU)and previously led the union’s branch at Trinmar in south Trinidad, where he fought to protect oilfield workers’ rights. Kesar has devoted his career to championing the working class, from advocating for retrenched energy-sector employees to pressing government o^icials on labor issues. Politically, he was the candidate for Point Fortin under the MSJ (Movement for Social Justice) in 2020, and after that experience he joined forces with the UNC as part of a broad “coalition of interests” aiming to unseat the ruling party. Kesar’s deep roots in the energy industry and union movement give him a grassroots perspective on economic and social challenges. He is known in Point Fortin for his straight-talking honesty and commitment to secure jobs and better opportunities for his community, and he hopes to bring that voice to Parliament.
